This website is designed to try and help inform people from around the world of the realities in Darfur from the perspective of the people who know best; the people in Darfur.
Through a number of different methods, The World is Watching Darfur team will do everything possible to positively effect the situation in Darfur.
There will be public releases of otherwise censored information, political advocacy through established contacts, naming alleged perpetrators of human rights violations, candid political analysis and advocacy, conflict analysis, and of course connecting the people on ground level in Darfur directly with the outside world.
The website provides a forum for whistle-blowing from Darfur. A chance for those in the field to be heard.
A whistleblower: A person who informs of wrong doing by public disclosure.
In Darfur censorship of information is an ongoing hindrance in humanitarian aid and conflict resolution. Humanitarians are intimidated, harassed and made fearful that should they speak out their organizations will endure negative repercussions including expulsion, meaning they would not be able to continue serving the vulnerable people of Darfur.
In a region run by Sudanese national security, humanitarians are punished for doing their jobs too well.
www.TheWorldisWatchingDarfur.com gives those in Darfur the chance to speak out and be heard with anonymity when both thus far the media has failed Darfur, as have the politicians.
In a nutshell, the world has let the people of Darfur suffer not solely through ignorance but through cowardice and political agenda. The international community has failed them. When they needed help the world turned away. Now you can be a part of making the world have to turn back and face up to what is happening.
Governments should be forced to answer your questions.
You must have a voice.
Authorities must not be allowed to stop you speaking out about Darfur.
Authorities must not be allowed to stop you speaking out about Darfur. The world outside needs to hear your stories, unpolluted, uncensored and untamed, from the people that know Darfur best; the people in Darfur. Enough is enough, Darfur is a shameful exhibition of inaction.
Unless there is a major change in the way the world engages with Sudan, millions of people will continue to suffer and thousands more die.
We have the will to make change, and we will find a way.
